- • delivery is delayed for many days
- • PAN is returned due to address issues
- • ePAN is not available even after approval
- • they need to apply for a reprint because the card is lost or damaged
This guide explains everything in a simple way — from dispatch tracking to delivery delay solutions and ePAN download.

What is PAN Dispatch Status?
PAN dispatch status means your PAN card has been:
- printed successfully
- packed for delivery
- sent to your address through India Post or courier
Once your PAN is dispatched, the tracking portal may show:
- dispatch date
- consignment number (speed post / courier tracking ID)
- delivery updates
What is PAN Delivery Status?
PAN delivery status means the PAN card has reached your address and is marked as delivered.
Delivery usually takes:
- 3 to 10 days after dispatch (most cases)
- 10 to 15 days for remote areas
- longer during high workload or verification delays
What is ePAN and When Can You Download It?
ePAN is a digital PAN card PDF. It is useful because:
- you can use it immediately after PAN allotment
- you don't need to wait for the physical card
- it is accepted in most places where PAN is required
In most cases, ePAN becomes available within 1 to 7 days after PAN is allotted.
How to Track PAN Card Dispatch & Delivery Status (Step-by-Step)
PAN dispatch and delivery tracking depends on where your PAN application was processed.
Most applications are handled by:
- NSDL (Protean)
- UTIITSL
If you are not sure where you applied, start with: 👉 PAN card application status
1Step 1: Check PAN Status on the Same Portal Where You Applied
Before tracking delivery, confirm your PAN status is at least one of these:
- PAN allotted
- PAN printed
- PAN dispatched
If your status is still "Under process", dispatch tracking will not be available.

2Step 2: Find the Dispatch / Consignment Number
Once PAN is dispatched, you may see:
- India Post speed post tracking ID
- courier consignment number
Sometimes, the tracking number appears after 24–48 hours from dispatch.
3Step 3: Track Delivery Using the Consignment Number
After you get the tracking ID:
- Track on India Post if it's speed post
- Track on courier site if it's courier tracking
This will show updates like:
- item booked
- in transit
- out for delivery
- delivered
4Step 4: Confirm Delivery Status
If tracking shows Delivered, but you did not receive the card:
- check with family members
- check with security/guard
- confirm address and mobile number
If still missing, applying for reprint is usually the best solution.
PAN Dispatched But Not Delivered – What You Should Do
This is the most common issue. If your status says "Dispatched" but you haven't received your PAN card, follow this checklist.
1) Wait 3–5 Working Days After Dispatch
Many users check too early. Even after dispatch, delivery takes a few days depending on your city and courier route.
2) Track the Consignment Number Properly
If tracking shows movement (in transit/out for delivery), your PAN is still on the way.
If tracking has no update for many days, it could be stuck at a sorting center.
3) Check Address Issues
PAN delivery fails commonly due to:
- incomplete house number
- missing landmark
- wrong pincode
- incorrect locality spelling
If address is incorrect, delivery may fail and the PAN can be returned.
4) Visit the Local Post Office (If Needed)
If tracking shows "Held" or "Delivery attempted", visit the local post office with:
- tracking number
- Aadhaar / ID proof
Sometimes, PAN is kept there for a few days before return.
5) If PAN is Returned, Apply for Reprint
If your PAN card is returned to the sender, you usually need to request a reprint.
This is also useful if:
- your PAN was lost
- your PAN was damaged
- your PAN was delivered long ago but you don't have it now
PAN Allotted But Dispatch Not Started – Why?
If your PAN status shows "PAN allotted" but there is no dispatch update, it usually means:
- printing is pending
- dispatch queue is delayed
- your application is approved but physical PAN is not generated yet
In such cases:
- wait 2–4 working days
- check status again
- ePAN may still be available earlier

ePAN Download (Digital PAN PDF)
If your PAN is allotted, you may be able to download your ePAN (digital PAN PDF).
In most cases, ePAN is available within 24 hours to 7 days after PAN allotment.
ePAN Not Available Yet? (Common Reasons)
Sometimes ePAN download does not work even after PAN is allotted. This can happen because:
- ePAN generation is still pending
- portal database is not updated
- details entered do not match PAN records
- OTP is delayed (Aadhaar-linked mobile)
What you can do:
- wait 24–72 hours and try again
- check DOB and PAN details carefully
- try again during non-peak hours
PAN Reprint Status (Duplicate PAN Card Tracking)
PAN reprint means requesting a duplicate physical PAN card.
You may need a reprint if:
- PAN card is lost
- PAN card is damaged
- PAN dispatched but returned
- PAN delivered but not received
Reprint status tracking generally shows:
- request submitted
- under process
- printed
- dispatched
- delivered
How Long Does PAN Delivery Take? (Realistic Timeline)
Here is a practical timeline for most users:
New PAN
- PAN allotment: 2–7 working days
- dispatch: 3–10 working days
- delivery: 7–15 days
PAN Correction / Update
- processing: 7–20 working days
- dispatch + delivery: 10–20 days
PAN Reprint
- dispatch: 5–10 working days
- delivery: 7–12 days
NSDL vs UTI Delivery Tracking (Important)
Many users check delivery status on the wrong portal.
| Portal | When to Use | Tracking Style |
|---|---|---|
| NSDL (Protean) | Most online PAN applications | Acknowledgement number (15-digit) |
| UTIITSL | UTI applications / coupon-based | Application/coupon number + DOB |
